The Solid State Disk or SSD for short is a plug-and-play storage device that has no moving parts. The device might include either DRAM or EEPROM memory, a memory board, CPU and a battery card. With its own CPU managing the data storage, they run a lot quicker than the traditional rotating hard disks and have the maximum possible I/O rates.
SSDs are great for server applications and server systems as it helps with the I/O response time. The data that should be stored on a SSD includes things that create a bottleneck on a server such as databases, swapping files, library and index files, and login/authorisation information.
