Games developer, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 6 will be released in November 2012. They announced they are working on a new addition to the popular gaming series. The official trailer has been available to watch since January 19th and suggests that parts of the new game will be set in China.
Resident Evil 6 will be released for consoles (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) on the 20th of November. The PC version is expected to followed soon after. Capcom did confirm that the characters Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy will be returning in the new game alongside some new characters.
The company also divulge some of the game’s plot as they said, "It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity."
"Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision."
Fans of the gaming series had been disappointed by the last instalment of the game as they complained that it had lost its original horror roots. Matt Dahlgren, product marketing manager of Capcom said back in 2010, "A lot of fans thought Resident Evil 5 was too much action and not enough survival horror. After the original game shipped, we took a lot of fan feedback into account before creating the [later] episodes."
Regardless of the complaints, Resident Evil 5 went onto become the best-selling game in the series so far with 5.6 million copies being sold worldwide.
