After revealing last week that Windows 8 would arrive in October, Microsoft has now confirmed the launch date for the operating system as October 26th. The announcement was made by Windows President Steven Sinofsky as the company’s annual sales meeting.
The new operating system will be available across the world as either a download or in-store buy on the launch date. Microsoft has previously revealed that manufacturers will be getting their hands on Windows 8 in August allowing them to configured their hardware with the operating system.
There will only be three versions of the OS, which are Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro for Intel-based PCs and Windows RT for ARM tablets such as Windows Surface. Windows 8 will feature the new Metro interface along with the traditional desktop UI.
