Microsoft have partnered with a child protection group within the UK to launch a new version of Internet Explorer that will keep children away from inappropriate content. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) agency version of IE9 will allow parents to use a ‘Jump List’ which will block unsuitable websites according to the age group selected.
The child-friendly version of the browser features literature from CEOP and offers parents a guide on how to protect children on the web and access to sites such as thinkunow.co.uk. Gabby Hegerty, Microsoft’s UK Internet Explorer boss said of the new browser, "At Microsoft we always want to provide our customers with the tools to enjoy the web safely and securely. As the leading browser provider, it is important we make the appropriate safety information available and build in features to our software which provide families with peace of mind online."
The child-friendly version of IE9 can be downloaed from the thinkuknow website for free but will need to have Windows 7 installed.
