NOW TV coming to Roku

Roku LT Streaming PlayerRoku and its streaming player will soon be getting the new internet TV service NOW TV as Sky is set to launch this new service with millions of people being able to access a huge catalogue of incredible movies. It will offer users the option of having Sky Movies across a number of internet-enabled devices. Access to content from Sky Sports is expected later in the year.

NOW TV aims to capitalise on the popularity of watching TV over the internet with it offering a subscription service in a new way as there will be no contracts, set-up costs or installation. NOW TV will offer two ways to watch Sky Movies as customers can ‘pay and play’ from an extensive catalogue of over 1,000 movies. At launch, it will have ‘now on DVD titles’ that includes recent movies such as We Bought a Zoo, The Woman in Black, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, This Means War and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. ‘Pay and Play’ movies will cost customers 99p for a classic movie to £3.49 for the latest releases.

NOW TV offers a second option of a Sky Movies pass giving customers instant and unlimited access to the whole Sky Movies collection. They can choose from 600 movies from classic movies to the latest blockbusters. NOW TV will launched five new and exclusive movies each Friday that will not be available on any other online subscription service for 12 months.

Customers who signed up for the Sky Movies Pass will have a free 30-day trial, which will then be available at £15 a month.

Sky will add more content onto NOW TV later with Sky Sports set to join before the end of year as customers will be able to watch action from the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, England Test Cricket and many other great sporting events.

NOW TV will be available in the UK to anyone that has an internet with it being launched tomorrow on PC, Mac and selected Android smartphones. NOW TV will be developed for other platforms including the Roku Streaming Player.

Simon Creasey, Director of NOW TV said, “NOW TV will bring more choice to UK consumers and an easy way to enjoy amazing movies, instantly. Following the explosion in internet-connected devices, we know that more and more people are looking for great content to watch over the web, and that’s where NOW TV comes in. Offering a new and exciting way to enjoy Sky Movies on some of the most popular internet-connected devices, NOW TV gives films fans everywhere a new choice.

“As we move forward, NOW TV will get even bigger and better, with more devices and more platforms in the coming months. Customers can also look forward to the best live action from Sky Sports and great drama, comedy and entertainment from our Sky channels.”
