It has been rumoured that Microsoft will press ahead by releasing the full Office suite onto the Apple iPad and Android tablets in November according to reports. It will see users being able to edit their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents via a tablet.
Boy Genius Report state that a source has told them they have seen Microsoft Office working on an iPad and that it is due to arrive on the iOS and Android platforms in November. The source referred to it as “Office for iOS”, which could possible means that Office Suite will be available to download onto the iPhone as well.
A previous blog post citing a report from the Daily website stated that Microsoft were working on developing Office applications for the iPad and it would cost a lot less than the full version of the software with it likely to be priced at the £6.99 mark.
Microsoft have said in the past that it has no plans to make the Office suite accessible for competing platforms. With the arrival of more Android tablets and Apple’s dominance of the market, Microsoft may have now changed their mind and allow Office to be opened up to multiple platforms.
