 Google has come in for criticism again with F-Secure showing that more than 90 percent of mobile malware is aimed at the Android operating system. The author of this report is deciding whether to switch his mother’s Android phone to a mobile with a more stable operating system.
The report also showed that Android malware accounted for 91.3 percent of threats identified. A previous report earlier in the year show that Android accounted for 96% of threats identified. Even though the percentage of threats came down, this was down to the rise of Symbian malware.

 BlackBerry has revealed that its BBM (BlackBerry Messaging) service will only initially be supported for the iPhone and Android smartphones. On Wednesday at the BlackBerry Live conference, they announced the messaging app would be made available for the iOS and Android platforms.
Since then they have told Trusted Reviews the focus of this app will be for smartphones with tablet devices such as the iPad and the Google Nexus 7 initially having no support for it.

 EA will be dropping its much criticised Online Pass System in favour of in-app purchases with the company admitting that the response from gamers to it had not been good. The Online Pass System had been developed to deter gamers from purchasing second-hand games.
The system worked by letting gamers who brought a new game use a one-time license code that would let you unlocked features in the game such as multiplayer mode. For those who were purchasing a second-hand version of game, they would end up having to buy a new online pass at the cost of around £10.

 At the Nokia launch event for the Lumia 925, there was no announcement of when a possible Nokia tablet would be coming. However, this does not mean the Finnish manufacturer is not going to be releasing a tablet in near future. Jo Harlow, Nokia Executive Vice President of Smart Devices told CNET, "We're very interested in tablets and that's an area we're looking at.”
She said that Nokia are looking to produce a tablet but were not ready to make an announcement about it with Harlow adding, "I don't have any product news I can share."

At this year’s Google I/O conference, there will be no new hardware showcased as the head of Android Sundar Pichair said the event is to be focused on developers and also to look at the issue of the software update process.
Pichair was speaking to Wired about his new role has and said there would not be a huge amount of hardware revealed at the event. Pichar who took over former head of Android Andy Rubin earlier this year said the event would look at "all of the kinds of things we're doing for developers, so that they can write better things [for Android and Chrome OS]".

 Microsoft has announced that the next update to its current operating system – codenamed Windows Blue will be available as a preview to users from June onwards. Julie Larson-Green, head of Windows engineering was speaking at the Wired Business Conference and said that Windows Blue will be available in form of a public preview to users of Windows 8 from the end of June.
The date of the preview release also coincides with the Microsoft Build Developer Conference, which is happening between the 26-28 of June. It likely that Microsoft will showcase the new build looking at the new features and how to download the preview release.

 Hotmail has been written into the history books as Microsoft have announced the switch over to Outlook.com is now completed. An post through the Outlook blog said that users of Hotmail had now been transferred to the new mail service, which is six weeks after Outlook came out of its public preview.
Microsoft also revealed that it now has 400 million active Outlook users with the goal to reach 1 billion frequently used accounts. They are pushing hard to reach goal as they have integrated Skype calls, an Outlook calendar, two-step security confirmation into Outlook.com and also launching the Outlook Android app.

 Intel is set to announce its next generation of Atom processors with it being the first redesigned since the chip was launched five years ago. The announcement is expected to happen on May 6th with the Atom processors being targeted for tablets, smartphones and PCs.
The new 22-nanometer Atom chip will utilise a high-performance design with a faster graphics chip and follows in the footsteps of the mainstream Intel Core processors. Windows 8 tablets have encountered struggles using the Atom processor when multitasking and this new processor will address this issue.

 Microsoft has confirmed it will be showcasing its next generation Xbox console on the May 21st at a launch event in its headquarters in Redmond, Washington. Major Nelson, the Xbox spokesperson said on the official Xbox blog: "On Tuesday May 21st we'll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day we'll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.xom, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you in the US or Canada."
He added, "On that day, we'll share our vision for Xbox and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we'll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games."

 In previous blog post, we mentioned that AMD were expanding its range of 7700 graphics cards and announces the Radeon 7790 GPU. Little detail has been given about the graphics card since the announcement until now that is as AMD has revealed the full specs for what it is claiming is the world’s fastest graphics card.
It is priced at $999 (there is no mention on what the price will be internationally) and the graphics card is aimed at gaming enthusiasts. The Radeon 7790 GPU has 8.6 billion transistors, 4096 stream processor and 8.2 TFLOPS.
