Wired Printers If you are planning to place the router next to the printer, you may not need to use the wireless functionality of it instead using a Ethernet cable. The majority of printers will have an Ethernet port giving the option of plugging it in if the router and printer are to remain stationary. You can activate the Wi-Fi on the printer at anytime and thus by unplugging the Ethernet cable you can move the printer to where ever you want in the room.
