+ If you still need Windows 7, Home Premium pretty much has it all. But you'll need Professional if you want to install more than 16GB memory in the machine, because Home Premium won't let you use more.
- Professional carries a bigger price tag, so stick with Home Premium unless you are sure you need the extra features.

+ Easy to load up and then dual boot my PC with Linux Mint.
- Need a magnifying glass to read the authentication code. It wasn't easy to see that you had to scratch off a panel to reveal the code. Cost, but you've got to like and lump it. Some specialist software I have can only run on Windows and can't be run on Wine or similar VM-type environments running under Linux.

+ It loaded straight from the CD ROM drive with no problem. As a result for just over £100 I got a good-as-new machine.
- It took several boot-ups with up to 70 updates to process to get the Windows 7 up to date - it took several days before getting a clean boot without updates and clean shut down without updates but after that it was fine. As usual, I needed to spend a bit of time to stop it Explorer loading unwanted material. Once done the machine is working fine. It was not easy to see where the Licence number was on the packaging and I had to ring up for help finding it under a scratch panel.

- be careful when removing the security sticker over the product key, as it can ruin the product key and you cannot activate Windows. Be gentle and remove with a coin and not your nail!
