7th June 2021

Sony, the manufacturer behind BRAVIA TVs and PlayStation has rolled out a customer promotion, allowing eligible purchasers of the world's first cognitive intelligence BRAVIA XR TVs the chance to claim a £50 voucher for the PlayStation Store. This promotion comes at a great time, with the Sony Days of Play sale having begun, offering plenty of choice when it comes to discounted games. While the £50 may not cover the price of some of the biggest and latest titles, it definitely helps ease the blow to your wallet. Plus, the voucher can also be used for add-ons, subscriptions and more. So, should you choose a Sony BRAVIA TV to partner up with your console? Let's take a look at the new TV range's features.

Sony's BRAVIA XR TVs pack plenty of features making it an ideal choice for PlayStation 5, with a minimum of 4k resolution and that all-important HDMI 2.1 support, crucial for PS5 players wanting 4K gameplay at 120Hz. What really stands out with this range is its Cognitive Processor XR which has been designed to replicate the way our brains think and respond. This processor works by detecting and analysing elements such as colour, detail and contract individually, creating a closer-to-reality feel. Big titles with epic graphics are sure to look absolutely brilliant on these screens.

The BRAVIA XR range of TVs at Box includes the MASTER Series A90J OLED, A80J OLED and X90J with Full-Array LED and sizes starting at 50" all the way up to 77". While these TVs all feature the new impressive Cognitive Processor XR, there are some differences to consider. The A90J features an all-new panel that offers a higher peak brightness on its OLED display. It also uses a new aluminium heat sink, making it efficient when it comes to cooling and allows it to get brighter in HDR. The A90J also comes with XR OLED Contrast Po which provides boosted colour and contrast and stunning deeper blacks. The Master Series A90J is available in 55" and 65", ideal sizes for the living (or gaming!) room.

The A80J OLED is a very similar option, also offering stunning visuals in a premium design. It's an excellent choice that performs very closely with the A90J, featuring plenty of the same XR benefits such as XR Contrast, XR HDR Remaster and XR Clarity. If you want to jump straight into the latest titles, this display will definitely keep up with fast-action movements thanks to the XR Motion features and 4X XR Smoothing. In terms of audio, both TVs have excellent sound quality, using Acoustic Surface Audio+ to move with the picture, and XR Surround for a really immersive experience.

The Sony X90J, while featuring the impressive new Cognitive Intelligence processing, uses a different panel type called Full Array LED. These panels deliver a very impressive picture at a lower cost than OLED TVs. While OLEDs excel when it comes to dark and contrast, LED are very impressive when brightness is important. The X90J also comes with brilliant features such as XR HDR Remaster, XR Contrast and 4K XR Super Resolution.
