Best gaming laptops - for every budget

10th October 2018

Looking for a gaming laptop with punch, but without the hefty price tag? Here Jamie Lee, Laptop Product Manager at Box, looks at three of the best performers - for every budget.

Entry level laptop, under £650

If you're in the market for an entry level laptop and want to get bang for your buck, you won't go far wrong with the MSI GL62M 7RDX-2073UK.

Reduced by £250, this impressive laptop has an Intel Core i5-7300HQ Quad Core Processor and operates with Microsoft Windows 10 Home.

It has a huge 256GB SSD flash memory and an eye-catching 1TB hard drive storage.

It has dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 2GB graphics, giving you up to three-times the performance of previous generation GPUs. The 8GB DDR4 RAM is fast enough for most modern games, and the 15.6" Full HD Screen is crystal clear.

The red back-lit keyboard is a nice touch, too, offering total control over any gaming session.

Mid-range, under £1,000

For under £1,000, the ASUS FX504GM-EN151T Gaming Laptop is an excellent choice.

Like the MSI GL62M 7RDX-2073UK at the cheaper price point, this powerful laptop has an Intel Core i5 Quad-Core Processor and operates with Microsoft Windows 10 Home and 8GB of RAM.

This laptop stands out with its 15.6" full HD wide-view 120Hz 3ms screen, as well as a huge 256GB SSD M.2 SATA flash memory.

As for graphics, the dedicated GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics will blow you away.

For the cherry on the value for money cake, this laptop comes with a free ASUS gaming backpack and mouse worth £99.

Medium to high range laptop, under £1,700

For the gamer who wants to step things up a notch, the ASUS ROG Strix GL703GS-E5011T from our premium range is a cracking piece of kit.

With a more powerful Intel Core i7-8750H Hexa-Core Processor, a 17.3" Full HD IPS 3ms 144Hz screen, 16GB DDR4 RAM and dedicated GeForce GTX 1070 8GB graphics, this laptop is equipped for serious gaming sessions.

It has 1000GB FireCuda SSHD, which is great for gamers who want faster loading times than their huge HDDs without sacrificing capacity, and M.2 256G SSD PCIE.

It's G-Sync and VR Ready and has a RGB backlit keyboard. The ASUS two-year warranty also offers additional piece of mind.
