Data has never been more important to individuals around the world - and neither has protecting it.
With hacking and ransomware becoming an increasing threat, ensuring your data is always protected is critical.
Here at Box, we are delighted to be teaming up with Synology, well known for their easy-to-use yet powerful Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers, who have recently developed a complete solution for protecting not only data but the entire IT set-up.
Here we take a look at Synology's latest data security offering.
Synology Active Backup
Increasingly, multiple backup solutions are required to cope with the rising number of storage options, whether it be PCs, internal file servers, virtualisation environments or cloud services such as Office 365.
Synology's new Active Backup provides protection for such hybrid environments, ensuring rapid backups and reducing the amount of data travelling through the network.
Active Backup not only guards against end user deletion and ransomware but also makes files easily retrievable when required.
An Active Backup portal can be logged into at any time to access a device's backup, restoring to a specific time or - if a restoration of an entire computer system is required - the Synology system can act as a temporary recovery site.
What's more, is that it's 100 per cent free to use with no licences required.

Keeping an offsite copy of your data
Even the most sophisticated protection can't provide insurance against a theft, fire, flood or similar issues.
Cloud service is an increasingly popular method of maintaining copies of data offsite, and Synology has successfully and effectively offered its C2 cloud solution for the last two years.
You can safeguard your important data from illicit access while being transmitted or stored by enabling military-grade AES-256 and RSA-2048 encryption technologies.
You can easily log into C2 Backup portal at any time with your Synology Account credentials to browse and download the right file intuitively.
Synology NAS plus Synology C2 Backup provides service consulting and technical support to guide an individual or business through each step of the data protection journey.
Complete Network Protection
A secure server with a well-constructed back-up plan will be useless if the if the network doesn't match that level of security.
Synology's flagship router, the RT2600ac, eliminates those concerns through threat prevention and safe access.
The technologies used ensures all incoming and outgoing traffic on the network are inspected, with malicious packets automatically blocked from passing through.
Safe access leverages external security databases to block domain names and IPs identified as related to dangerous websites, internet attacks and phishing.
It notably integrates Google Safe Browsing, a service that has been keeping over three billion devices safer and is now integrated into every Synology Router.
