The Sony Bravia Cognitive Processor XR Technology!

This year we've seen the release of amazing new technology in 2021 TV ranges from top brands, and Sony is no exception! Their 2021 range introduced us to the world's first cognitive intelligence TV. The Sony BRAVIA XR™ TV takes vision and sound to the next level with the ingenious new processor from Sony, the Cognitive Processor XR. It understands how humans see and hear, providing a whole new experience that immerses you completely in the scene.

Sony's Cognitive Processor XR was designed to replicate the way our brains think and respond. The way we perceive the world is based on information coming from our eyes and ears to our brain at the same time. Conventional AI and previous TV processors could only detect and analyse elements like colour, contrast and detail individually. Cognitive Processor XR can cross-analyse every element at once, the same way that human brains process these elements.

So how does this work? Cognitive Processor XR divides the screen into hundreds of zones and recognises individual objects in these zones better than ever before. The processor, like our brains, can also cross-analyse around a few hundred thousand different elements that make up a picture in a second! To create a closer-to-reality feeling the Cognitive Processor XR can analyse colour, focal-point, clarity and contrast all at the same time. By cross-analysing all of these picture elements, Sony Bravia XR TVs will adjust each element to its best possible outcome, balancing every element in harmony, for a natural real world picture.

By analysing focal points, Bravia XR TVs can work the same way as our eyes. They detect the main focal point in a scene and can enhance each detail in an object so it stands out with a natural sense of depth, just as though you're looking at the real world!

It's not always just the picture that's important, the Cognitive Processor XR can create a more realistic and immersive soundscape too, so you can hear your TV content just the way you would hear in real life. The XR ranges advanced sound processing mimics your ears by pinpointing where sound is coming from and placing it in the right spot on the screen, positioning you right in the action. By delivering sound in horizontal and vertical directions, the Cognitive Processor XR creates a real multi-dimensional sound experience. The processor analyses and upconverts audio to 5.1.2ch surround sound, creating a true 3D soundscape.

If you're looking at treating yourself to a Sony Bravia XR TV, keep an eye out for some of the key Cognitive Processor XR specs including; XR Contrast, XR Motion Clarity, XR 4K Upscaling and XR TriluminosPro.

  • XR Contrast adjusts the brightness for higher peaks in glare and deeper blacks in shadow, this way no more details will be overwhelmed by shadow or lost in blown-out highlights.
  • XR TriluminosPro (XR Colour) uses the processor to access a wider palette of colour and reproduce these colours. With extended hue and saturation, vivid shades and realistic texture can be seen on screen.
  • XR 4K Upscaling accesses a huge amount of data to upscale and intelligently recreate lost textures. With this feature you will see details such as naturally defined animal fur.
  • XR Motion Clarity analyses data to ensure action stays smooth, bright and clear. Perfect for watching sports or fast-moving movies, with blur-free scenes.
