Women in Streaming: Noodle

8th March 2021

Interview with Noodle

UK based Twitch streamer.

Name: Noodlebeefnooodle, you can call me Noodle.
Pronouns: She/her
Based in: UK
Platform: Twitch
Streams: Variety streamer, I normally stream retro games and cooking streams.

Hi Noodle! Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

  1. I was born in China but I lived in South Korea for 6 years and I now live in the UK. I can speak 3 languages: Chinese, Korean, English and a little bit of Japanese.

  2. I am super weird which I am also proud of! If you want to know how weird I am come and join me in my chat!

  3. I can drink a pint of beer in 7 seconds lol.

When did your streaming journey begin, and what inspired you to start?

I started streaming at the end of June 2020 while I was on furlough. Some of my friends were saying how weird and talkative I am and that I should put that to good use and start streaming. I had nothing else to do at that point and I thought streaming could also improve my mental health and my English too.

What's your favourite game/content to stream/share? What do you enjoy most about it?

I enjoy retro point and click games, some beat em up Sega games and I also really enjoy cooking streams as well. I didn't play many games when I was growing up, so streaming is a great chance for me to catch up with all the great games I missed.

Do you feel like there is a stigma for women streamers in the industry?

Not really. I think it's 50/50. It's tricky for a woman and also for a man. Streaming is a fun thing but it's also not an easy thing to do as there is so much more to it than just sitting in front of the camera. Some people assumed when I told them I was streaming, that it was something rude/sexual but that was easily cleared up. As a female Asian streamer, my biggest challenge is just communicating in the English language! I sometimes say things wrong but that just seems to make people smile so I don't mind.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to women who want to begin streaming?

Personality is what counts. Be yourself - even if you are weird like me! Just have fun! Whatever you do, DO NOT compare yourself to other more popular streamers. They have their thing and you have yours. :)

Where can people find you online?
