Cooker hoods are a lot more than just a stylish fan. They get rid of any food odours before they have chance to make your kitchen smell. There is a massive selection of styles, sizes and extraction types.
The first thing to consider is the type of cooker hood you want for your kitchen
Integrated Cooker Hoods are built into the underside of a cupboard giving them a very discreet look.
Chimney Cooker Hoods and Visor cooking hoods are fitted to the wall, normally with the option to extract out of the back or the top depending on the model.
If you're hob is on an island in your kitchen then a Ceiling Cooker Hood or Island Cooker Hood could be the one for you. Downdraft Extractors are also very popular with Islands, they raise up from the work surface automatically, making them very neat and tidy but they do take up space in your island.
The width of the cooker hood needs to be taken into account, generally you want the extractor the same width or wider than your hob to ensure you efficiently extract those cooling smells. We have cooker hoods ranging from 36cm to a massive 110cm to ensure we have a solution for you. The most common size is 60cm width as most hobs and cookers are 60cm in width.
Your final consideration is the extraction rate, this determines how quickly your cooker hood removes cooking smells and hot air from the kitchen. Ideally you want to empty your kitchen of air 10 times per hour. To calculate this, you simply measure your kitchen in metres, multiply the height, width and depth which gives you the volume of your kitchen and times the volume by 10 to give yourself your ideal minimum extraction rate.
